Bangladesh practiced the day before the match at Dharamsala. A confident Bangladesh team defeated Afghanistan by a big margin in the Asia Cup. Before the first match, coach Hathurusingha makes it clear that his team's goal is to make it to the semi-finals.
Hathurusingha said, “We all want to win the World Cup but as you rightly asked me realistically is that if we win four to five games, we give ourselves a chance to get into the semi-final of the knockout stage, that's our first aim.”
A few days ago in an interview, Hathurusingha made a bold comment. He said that those who are dreaming that the Bangladesh team will win the World Cup should wake up. Today, Hathurusingha faced questions about that comment. In reply, he said, one should move forward with any dream or goal - it doesn't matter with which one one is moving forward.
According to Hathurusingha, “People can dream, people can aim, people can have goals. Whatever the word you use, it is the same thing. We're trying to have a good World Cup and win matches. That's the main aim for me. As I just said, our aim is to get into the semifinal, that can be a dream or can be an aim - doesn't matter.”
