Sohrawordi Shuvo calls for Nasir Hossain’s return to the national team amid strong comeback
33-year-old Nasir has been out of the press for more than a year and a half because he was banned. He has made a good comeback in the current Dhaka Premier League (DPL). Nasir showed signs of his old ability with a tough 77-run knock on April 10 for the Rupganj Tigers. He also did a great job with the ball in his first game, which shows that he's not done yet.

Bangladesh are still trying to find balance and experience in its national cricket team. Former all-rounder Sohrawordi Shuvo has made a strong plea for Nasir Hossain to be brought back.
Reacting to Nasir’s performance, Sohrawordi wrote on Facebook, “After 18 months away from cricket, Nasir scored 77 in just his second match back. I believe he still has what it takes to play for Bangladesh.”
While Nasir’s age—33—may raise eyebrows, Sohrawordi doesn’t think it should be a disqualifying factor. “People will say he’s not young or fully fit. But he’s not too old either. If you look at global sports like football, baseball, or basketball, top players often get 2–3-year contracts based on performance. If they deliver in that period, that’s enough.”
Highlighting Nasir’s past international credentials, Shuvo suggested that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) consider building a short-term performance program for him. “Nasir has already proved himself at the international level. Give him six months to work on his fitness. If he performs next season, let him play for three more years. If not, move on. But he deserves that chance.”
Nasir, for his part, isn’t hiding his ambition either. Speaking after his return to domestic cricket, he made it clear that his eyes are still on the national team. “Everyone who plays cricket dreams of wearing the national jersey. I do too. I believe the opportunity is still there. If I perform, and the selectors value that, then a comeback is possible. I still believe I can make it.”
