Shanto gives reason behind Bangladesh's batters poor strike-rate in T20s
There are always a lot of talking about the strike-rate of Bangladesh batters in T20 cricket as they play slow regularly. Even in the recently-concluded Zimbabwe series, no batter in the team had the strike-rate of over 150. Among the batters, Towhid Hridoy had the highest strike-rate of 147.36. Shanto himself had the strike-rate of 103.84.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto doesn’t think that there is problem in strike-rate among the batters. He backs the batters and says that the strike-rate will increase automatically if they play on good wickets regularly.

Shanto thinks it’s because of the wicket where the play. In the Sri Lanka series last March, Bangladesh scored 200-run in a match. Also in other two matches, they scored 160+ runs. Shanto also mentions that.
“I don't think so [poor strike-rate]. There is a lot of talk about strike-rate in our country. We have started playing on good wickets recently. We played the T20 series against Sri Lanka on a good wicket. Time must be given. If we play on a good wicket for a long time, 6 months 1 year 2 years then you will see every batter batting at a good strike-rate. Not only international cricket, but also in BPL you have to play on good wickets for a long time. Then you will understand the difference,” Shanto said.
Shanto says the close matches they won in the third and fourth T20I will be beneficial in the upcoming days. Bangladesh lost the only match in the last T20I today. Shanto credits Zimbabwe for the win and says that they were series in every match.
“We won some close matches which we needed. Such kind of matches will be in the upcoming series or tournaments. At that time, how we plan, how calm we can, these things have been practiced. The way we came back in the close matches and won the match, this experience will be useful in the future,” Shanto added.
“We were serious in every match. We didn't want to lose a match, we didn't need to lose. It feels good to win a match. We did not win today, credit to Zimbabwe. They played good cricket.”
