At the midst of a thrilling Test match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at Sylhet, the cricket world suffered a devastating loss. Ikram Chowdhury, who had been the Security Coordinator at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium for a long period, died unexpectedly during the match on April 23.
Ikram, a well-known and respected official in charge of Sylhet's matchday security since 2014, was on duty as usual that morning. During the day's proceedings, however, he complained of chest trouble and quickly went down.
He was taken to Al Haramain Hospital in Sylhet city right away. Even though he needed medical help right away, he was pronounced dead from a major heart attack.
There is a cloud over the current Test match because of the sad news of Ikram Chowdhury's death. There is a lot of sadness and grief in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), among players and cricket officials from all over the country.
Ikram had been the calm, in charge person behind the scenes for more than ten years, making sure that players, staff, and fans were safe. Because he loved the game so much and was so serious, he was one of the most trusted security people in Bangladesh cricket.
Even if the Test match is still going strong and full of enthusiasm, this tragic occurrence serves as a sobering reminder that some things are greater than sport. People who played cricket, both in and out of Sylhet, are saddened by the passing of a comrade and a beloved individual whose achievements were frequently unnoticed but extremely significant.
