It was a huge win for Legends of Rupganj over Agrani Bank by 103 runs in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Super League match on Tuesday at the BKSP-4 ground. The best part of the day was Soumya Sarkar's perfect hundred, which will live in the minds of all who saw it. He lit up the stage with a blazing 153 off 112 deliveries, which led Rupganj to a huge score.
Even though Marshall Ayub had a good innings, Agrani Bank couldn't make a major reply and were bowled out for 230.
After winning the toss, Agrani Bank chose to bowl first. However, they were quickly put in trouble when Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan Tamim put together an 81-run stand for Rupganj. Saif scored 43 calmly off 61 balls, and Tamim scored 43 quickly off 33 balls, with 5 fours and 2 sixes.
But without a doubt, Soumya Sarkar stole the show. When he came in at No. 3, he took charge right away and never looked back. Soumya got to 100 off of just 92 balls, and he sped up even more in the last few overs. His overall score, 153*, was made up of 17 fours and 6 sixes, giving him a strike rate of 136.61.
Afif Hossain, who was still unbeaten on 49 off 45 balls, and Mehedi Maruf, who added 24, were great for him. Because of what they did, Legends of Rupganj scored a huge 333/4 in 50 overs.
During the game, Agrani Bank's bowlers had a hard time. Shuvagata Hom, Arif Ahmed, and Jahid Javed all took one wicket.
In reply, Agrani Bank got off to a good start with a stand of 47. Once the openers were out, though, wickets kept falling. Skipper Imrul Kayes played quickly, scoring 23 runs off of 15 balls. Shuvagata Hom added 39 runs in 18 balls, which was a short burst of fireworks.
But Marshall Ayub was the one who stood strong the most. He held the game together from one end and got 74 off of 96 balls. Not surprisingly, Agrani Bank were bundled out for 230 runs because none of the other batters made any big hits.
Saif Hassan, who got Rupganj off to a good start with the bat, turned out to be their best bowler, taking 3 wickets to cap off a great effort all around.
