Bangladesh finished day 3 of the Sylhet Test on a high note, even though rain stopped play several times. Their strong batting performance in the second innings strengthened their lead in the match.  The hosts now have a 112-run lead over Zimbabwe, thanks to a calm fifty from Najmul Hossain Shanto. The fourth day could be very important for the match.

After delays caused by bad weather, Bangladesh made good progress and were 194 for 4 at the end of the day.  Captain Shanto stayed perfect on 60 off 103 balls, showing both toughness and control at the crease.  Jaker Ali Anik was his partner and did a good job of supporting him by holding from the other end with 21 off 60 balls.

At the press conference after the game, former captain Mominul Haque said that the team's goal is to get a 300-run lead.  Even though he was positive, he said that Bangladesh could be in charge with even a 270–280 run lead.  “If we can push the lead past 300, it’ll put us in a very good spot,” said Mominul. “Even 270–280 can be competitive on this surface.”

When asked if he believes Bangladesh’s lower order can help reach that milestone, Mominul expressed full confidence in players like Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud. “Yes, I’m confident. The players we have down the order, like Taijul and Hasan, can bat well. That gives us the belief.”

Looking ahead, Mominul emphasized a calculated approach will be key to building the lead. “Mehidy Hasan Miraz is still to bat, and he’s very capable. We’ll need to bat smartly in the morning—it might be challenging early on. If we can hold on during the crunch moments, form good partnerships, then reaching close to 300 is very much possible.”
