Lahore Qalandars ace all-rounder Sikandar Raza has offered his views on the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) with regard to what has improved and where improvements are still to be made.
Lahore Qalandars star all-rounder Sikandar Raza opines that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is yet to match the Indian Premier League (IPL) in certain respects, the biggest being technology.
The Zimbabwean cricketer of Pakistani origin highlighted the sophisticated application of digital monitoring systems for the detection of no-balls in the IPL and was hopeful that the PSL will implement such innovations in the near future.
Raza, who has played in fine form throughout the tournament, stressed the significance of right umpiring judgments, particularly waist-high no-balls. He noted that the IPL has led the way by introducing digital tracking systems that consider a player's precise height to determine the consistency of a delivery accurately. This amount of technological incorporation assists in minimizing human error and promoting fair play, something Raza hopes to witness in the PSL in the near future.
The Zimbabwean born in Pakistan also hailed the technology improvements in the Indian Premier League (IPL), including the application of digital ball-tracking systems to detect no-balls, and hoped that such innovations will be implemented soon in the PSL.
Raza clarified that the height of every player is accurately measured in the IPL so that the technology can digitally record the path of delivery, particularly full delivery. The data is compared to the bowler's height to ascertain if a delivery constitutes a no-ball with utmost accuracy. This level of accuracy eliminates human error and enhances the equity of the game.
"There have been lots of innovations in cricket recently," Raza explained. "Let's hope that these technologies are also adopted in the next PSL."
Sikandar Raza made this statement at the press conference after Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars' match. Raza courageously scored a half-century in Lahore Qalandars' unsuccessful run chase of 229.
