Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto explains after the Afghanistan defeat that they disorganized the batting-order in the match because of the left-right combination in batting.
Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan by 8 runs (DLS method) in a breathtaking match in St Vincent on Tuesday (June 25). After being asked to bowl first, Bangladesh bowled really well and restricted Afghanistan to 115 runs in 20 overs. In the chase, Bangladesh had a chance but they kept losing wickets regularly while at the other end, Litton Das kept fighting but they lost the match despite his fight.
The in-form Tawhid Hriday played at No. 6 in the match. Explaining this decision, Shanto said, “We mixed up the batting order because we wanted to keep left-right combination. There was Litton in one end. They had a lot of variations in their bowling. Everyone was clear, they knew we would do this.”
Earlier, Shanto talked about the India match, in which they lost by 50 runs. "We gave our 100% against India. We picked the extra spinner in Mahedi, who bowled well. We should have scored a little more runs on that wicket (in Antigua). We didn't utilise it properly. The scenario would have been different had we batted better (against India),” Shanto added.
