Most of the cricketers dream of playing Test cricket. There are many Test players, who play regularly in limited overs teams but are trying hard to play Tests but are not getting a place in the team. However, MS Dhoni gives a strange advice to the Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana.

Dhoni advised his Chennai Super Kings teammate Pathirana not to play Tests. However, this legend has also shown the logics behind it. The Chennai captain claims that Pathirana will do better in the shorter format.

Pathirana, who has been in the news for his eccentric bowling action like Sri Lanka legend Lasith Malinga, is in the limelight once again with his brilliant performance in the Chennai jersey in the IPL.

However, such bowling action increases the risk of injury. That's why he should play selectively, feels Dhoni. He said, "I personally think he is not someone who should play a lot of red-ball cricket. I think he shouldn't even get close to it. Even in white-ball cricket, the 50-over version he should play as less as possible. He should play the big ICC tournaments because he is not somebody who will change a lot. This is what he will do, so you can always use him at crucial times.

"But make sure that he is fit and available for all ICC tournaments and he will be a great asset for Sri Lanka. Not to forget, he is a really young boy. Last time, when he came, he was slightly more lean, but he has added muscle, which means he has got pretty strong. I feel he will serve for a very long time for Sri Lankan cricket, but we'll have to keep an eye on how much he bowls."

The 20-year-old pacer Pathirana has been in good form in this year’s IPL. He has taken 10 wickets till now in 7 matches. He was also adjudged man of the match in Chennai’s last match against Mumbai Indians yesterday.
