Sylhet Sunrisers have confirmed Taskin Ahmed as direct local signing alongside two overseas players for the 2022 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).  

Each team can sign one local player and three overseas players ahead of the draft, which is scheduled for December 27. 

Taskin, who was with another Sylhet franchise (Sixers) in BPL 2019, said he would like to get his team to the finals. 

"I'm going to play for Sylhet Sunrisers In Sha Allah. Do support me and my team so we can play well make it to the finals," Taskin said in a video message.

The right-arm pacer was slotted in category B (salary: 35 lakh BDT) among the locals.

The overseas signings include Sri Lankan batter Dinesh Chandimal, who carries the weight of playing 64 Tests, 150 ODIs and 61 T20Is, and UAE's left-arm medium pacer Shiraz Ahmed.

Shiraz has so far played five recognised T20 matches - all of which came while playing for Kandy Warriors in the Lanka Premier League 2021. He made a mark to everyone by performing for Delhi Bulls alongside Dwayne Bravo and Eoin Morgan in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, which was held after the T20 World Cup.

Among the other BPL news, Mustafizur Rahman (category A) - not Tamim Iqbal - will play for Cumilla Victorians. Chattogram Challengers have signed local player Nasum Ahmed, West Indies' Kennar Lewis and England's Benny Howell.
