India's youngster Shubman Gill is doubtful for the upcoming high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy's first Test, which commences from November 22 at Optus Stadium, Perth.

According to a report by the Times of India (TOI), the youngster sustained damage while taking a catch in the slips during the ongoing match against India 'A' at the WACA in Perth.

Gill, however, is likely to be available for the second Test in Adelaide, which has a 10-day gap after the first Test to prepare for the pink-ball contest.

India have been hit by a raft of injury scares in practice. Sarfaraz Khan is among them, who sustained a blow on the first day of net sessions, while Virat Kohli and KL Rahul suffered blows while batting during the match.

Shubman Gill was expected to open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal in absence of Rohit Sharma in the first Test. With the injury of Gill, wicket keeper batter Dhruv Jurel and Rahul are the likely candidates for India.
