Bangladesh’s pace revolution hasn’t gone unnoticed — especially by visiting Zimbabwean skipper Sean Williams, who is full of praise for the Tigers’ fast-bowling unit ahead of their upcoming two-match Test series.
Speaking at a pre-series press conference in Sylhet, the veteran Zimbabwean cricketer lauded Bangladesh’s strides in fast bowling, describing it as one of the most exciting developments in recent international cricket.
“I think they're excellent. I've actually watched the Bangladesh space attack grow and grow and grow throughout the years. And now the amount of numbers that they have to collect from is incredible. And I've really enjoyed watching that growth within your country. Our country as well, hopefully we'll be starting to do the same thing. As you see, we've got a young guy, Newman Nyamhuri, starting to come through. And there's a couple of other young team as Brad Evans. Unfortunately, he's not here now, but we've got guys with a high level of skill as well. So, yeah, look, I think you guys are doing well,” Williams said.
Bangladesh's emerging speedster Nahid Rana has also caught Zimbabwe’s attention, but Williams insists his team is well-prepared for the pace test. “There's a lot of people that can bowl fast nowadays. Not just one person in the world bowls fast. So we prepared for that. We've had bowling machines that bowl faster than human beings. So that's a great thing,” he said, responding to questions about facing Rana.
When it comes to raw speed, Nahid Rana has turned heads. This has made him an important part of Bangladesh's plans for the future. His addition to the Test side gives a bowling attack that already has a lot of variety even more power.
Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will play their first Test match on April 20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The game will start at 10:00 AM local time. Both teams are working hard to develop their next generation of stars, so the two-game series should be very interesting.
