MI New York has made their roster much stronger for the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season by adding South African wicketkeeper and batsman Quinton de Kock and Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai

MI New York is gearing up for the new Major League Cricket (MLC) season with a few high-profile additions. South African wicketkeeper and batsman Quinton de Kock and Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai are the team's top pick.

De Kock will be accompanied by compatriot George Linde, who was rewarded with another T20 game for the franchise after his performances led MI Cape Town to its first SA20 title. Linde will get the chance to play alongside his MI Cape Town teammate Omarzai, whose international cricket reputation has increased after being awarded the recent ODI Player of the Year award. Naveen-ul-Haq will also transition from the Texas Super Kings to MINY and will add Afghan style to the new season.

The New York franchise, based in New York, had a dream inaugural season in the MLC, claiming the 2023 championship. But in 2024, the team struggled throughout the season despite having an experienced core of Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Trent Boult, and Rashid Khan. To address this, the franchise decided to go for a complete roster overhaul, releasing some big international names and recruiting new players.

MINY was also retained its foreign core of players, such as Pollard, Pooran, Rashid, and Boult. The franchise, though, made some daring moves, releasing Tim David, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, and young sensation Dewald Brevis.

Along with the international signings, MI New York has fortified its local lineup by signing Agni Chopra, Tejinder Dhillon, Sharad Lumba, and Kunwarjeet Singh. These local players will complement the franchise's other homegrown players, such as Monank Patel, Nosthush Kenjige and Heath Richards.
