The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has hired experienced coach James Pamment as the new fielding coach for the national team. This is a smart move before a busy international season.  The 56-year-old has worked with top international and club teams in the past, so he has a lot of knowledge with high-level cricket.

Pamment is going to join the Bangladesh national team before their Test series against Zimbabwe, which starts later this month.  His deal will last until the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, which will take place in October and November.

James Pamment was born in England but now lives in New Zealand and has a long history of playing cricket.  Pamment played first-class cricket for Auckland before becoming a coach, which is where he really made his name.

He was an important part of the Mumbai Indians teaching team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2018 until not long ago. As an assistant coach, he specialised in fielding and running between the wickets.  Under his leadership, the Mumbai Indians won several titles and got much better at playing on the pitch and being active.

He had been the head coach of the Northern Districts Cricket Association in New Zealand for five years before that.  He also did a lot of work with New Zealand Cricket's High Performance Unit, helping the national team, the A team, and the Under-19s as a fielding resource teacher and technical adviser.

Pamment was also New Zealand's assistant coach during their 2011 home series against Pakistan and, for a short time, the acting head coach of the USA national team. This shows how versatile and able he is to work with players from different countries.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new role, Pamment said, "I am really excited about the opportunity to get involved with a very talented Bangladesh side. I am eagerly looking forward to joining the players and the backroom staff ahead of the Zimbabwe series.”
