South Africa have won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 group-stage match at the Grand Prairie Stadium in New York.

Tamim thinks new ball bowling will be key for Bangladesh against South AfricaBangladesh have made one change in the squad as Jaker Ali replaces Soumya Sarkar. On the other hand, South Africa have gone with the same squad.

In the first match, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 2 wickets in a thriller. Bangladesh pacers - Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman bowled superbly with lot of variations at the start of the innings and during the death overs as well. While Rishad Hossain provided crucial breakthroughs in the middle over as he picked up Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga in consecutive deliveries to leave Sri Lanka stutter. In the end, Sri Lanka scored 124 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka also bowled well on a slow pitch. But Towhid Hridoy's blitzkrieg 40 off 20 deliveries and a gutsy knock of 36 from 38 balls from Litton Das helped Bangladesh chase down the total. Though Bangladesh lost wickets in regular intervals, Mahmudullah Riyad kept his nerve cool in the end and picked up the win for Bangladesh. However, Shanto is not much worried about the batters.

On the other hand, South Africa have won two out of two matches that they played till now against Sri Lanka and Netherlands.
