In a momentous gesture the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to pay tribute to Team India captain Rohit Sharma by naming a stand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium after him. The decision was officially approved during the MCA Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, April 15.

According to reports the Divecha Pavilion Level 3 at Wankhede will now be renamed as the ‘Rohit Sharma Stand’, recognizing the remarkable achievements and contribution of the Mumbai-born opener to Indian cricket.
Under Rohit’s leadership India national cricket team clinched two ICC trophies in succession the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 defeating South Africa in final and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 dedeatin remaining unbeaten in both tournaments and defeating several top-tier teams.
Additionally the MCA announced that Grand Stand Level 3 will be named after former ICC chairman Sharad Pawar and Grand Stand Level 4 will now bear the name of Ajit Wadekar another legend of Mumbai cricket.
“Today’s decisions reflect our deep respect for the pillars of Mumbai cricket and our determination to build an even stronger future,” said MCA President Ajinkya Naik.
“These stands and this lounge shall forever echo the legacy of those who built Mumbai’s cricketing spirit brick by brick, run by run.”
The grand unveiling is expected to generate massive buzz as Rohit Sharma returns to action on April 17 when the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians take on Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in a high-voltage IPL 2025 clash.
