Before the Afghanistan match, there was a battle of many equations. Even after losing the first 2 matches badly, Bangladesh had a chance to go to the semi-finals. But in the end, Bangladesh could not win the match. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto apologized to the fans on behalf of the team after the match.
In the post-match press conference, Shanto said, “In the whole tournament, first of all I want to say that we as a team have disappointed the entire Bangladesh fans , we have disappointed those who have always supported us. I apologize on behalf of the team. As a batting group, we could not give anything to the people of the country. That's why we are sorry. We must try to get out of here. The bowlers bowled well. Rishad (Hossain) has done well in almost every match in such a big tournament. There were also several positives. As a batting group, we have disappointed the people of the whole country. There were no lack of efforts, everyone was honest to everyone, everyone gave 100% I also want to say that. We are sorry for that from the team.”
In the context of leaving the World Cup like this, Shanto added, “Of course, there is a lot of disappointment and a lot of pain. Because before coming to play this match, everyone's plan was that we would win this match. If such a situation happens, then we will take the chance (of the semifinals), which was in our hands. We couldn't take it. The entire batting group took very bad decisions.”
