Gujrat Titans have beaten Kolkata Knight Riders by 39 runs on Monday (April 21) at the Eden Gardens. A sublime 90 off 55 deliveries from Shubman Gill and an excellent 52 off 36 balls helped the GT get to 198 on the board. In response, Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan's tidy spells handed GT a superb 39-run victory.
Being asked to bat first, Gujrat Titans started off to a flier, adding 45 runs inside the powerplay and once they got settled on the crease, the duo were rocking and hitting boundaries at their will, stitching a crucial 114-run opening stand together before the departure of Sai Sudharsan after his 52 off 36 deliveries.
Wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler then joined the party with Shubman Gill as the duo further added 58 runs. Shubman Gill fell short of his century, scoring a blistering knock of 90 runs off only 55 deliveries, which included three sixes and 10 boundaries.
Jos Buttler gave a superb finishing, smashing an unbeaten 41* off 23 balls and steering GT to a massive 198 on the board.
In reply, Mohammed Siraj bowled a fiery opening spell, trapping Rahmanullah Gurbaz infront for LBW. Rashid Khan got Sunil Narine rid off, while Sai Kishore had Venkatesh Iyer.
Wickets kept tumbling at the other end, but skipper Ajinkya Rahane held on firm one end, scoring a gritty 50 off 36 balls but Washington Sundar had him out. At the tad backend of the innings, Angkrish Raghuvanshi tried to pull off the heist but failed to do so as Gujrat Titans claimed a superb 39-run victory.
