Former Indian captain Kapil Dev made the headlines after he expressed his admiration for "Bazball" approach in Test cricket and also urged Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Co to play a fearless brand of cricket in the longest format of the game.

Rohit SharmaThe 1983 World Cup-winning captain added that he is a big fan of much-talked-about England's bazball approach that gained traction recently. England batsmen showcased their ultra-aggressive batting approach in Test cricket, which helped them play the game fearlessly. 

As a result, they were able to score runs at a rate of knots, making Test cricket a bit more entertaining in the first place. The cricket fraternity witnessed England's display in the recently-concluded Ashes series. Despite losing the first two games, England came from behind to win the next game to stay alive in the series.

The fourth Test was also tilting in favour of England before the rain played spoilsport in the game, which saw Australia retaining the Ashes for the third consecutive time. The fifth and final Ashes Test ended in favour of the hosts as the series ended 2-2. 

Rohit is good but needs to be more aggressive: Kapil Dev

On the other hand, Team India embarked on the third cycle of the World Test Championship with a win in the first Test over the West Indies. However, they missed out on an opportunity to win the second Test in a rain-marred encounter in the Port of Spain.

The former Indian skipper Kapil Dev, while speaking to TOI, added that the Ashes series 2023 was one of the finest series he has seen in recent times. He highlighted that the game should be played just like that before adding that Rohit Sharma should be more aggressive as a batsman.

"Bazball is wonderful. The series between England and Australia was one of the finest series I have seen in recent times. I think cricket should be played like that. Rohit is good. But he must be more aggressive," Kapil Dev told The Times of India.

"You have to think about how teams like England play now. And it's not just us. All cricket-playing countries have to think along those lines. Winning the game should be the highest priority (not play for draws) for all teams," he added.
