Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto thinks it is not wise to compare Indian Premier League (IPL)’s run fest to the international cricket.
In the recently-concluded Bangladesh-Zimbabwe series, there were average scored in all the five T20Is where 165 runs was the highest made by Bangladesh. Bangladesh won the series by 4-0.
On the other hand, in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), no run is safe. Bowlers are struggling much. There are 23 scores of 200+ in 62 matches in this year’s IPL. Even the score of 262 has also been chased. Shanto also reminds of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches where there were many 200+ scores.
However, Shanto doesn’t think this will be case in the international cricket especially in the upcoming T20 World Cup. According to Shanto, there will be scores of 160, 170 or 180.
"There are so many runs in IPL... I think international cricket cannot be matched with IPL. Last time there were more than 200 runs in PSL, 250 too. As far as I know, 160, 170, 180... two hundred runs in international cricket is a very good score. It is not usually seen. I think the runs will be like this in the World Cup - between 160 and 180 on good wickets. This run must be chased and defended. I never think it's logical to compare international cricket with the IPL,” Shanto said.
