Comilla Victorians have picked up their first win in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Monday (January 16) beating Chattogram Challengers by 6 wickets. This is Comilla’s first win in four matches and Chattogram’s third defeat in five matches.

Batting first, Chattogram lost inform batter Usman Khan in the first over of their innings. Max O’Dowd and Afif Hossain tackled the initial blow with a 45-run partnership. But Afif was dismissed in the last ball of the powerplay after scoring 29 runs from 21 balls.

Irfan Sukkur also failed. He scored 5 runs. O’Dowd couldn’t make his innings big as he was dismissed in the 12^th over just when he was about to attack the Comilla bowlers. He scored 24 runs from 24 balls. In the end, captain Shuvagata Hom’s 23-ball 37* gave Chattogram a mediocre total of 135 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets.

Tanvir Islam, Mosaddek Hossain and Khushdil Shah all took two wickets each for Comilla.

In reply, Litton Das and Mohammad Rizwan started off the innings very well. Litton was very aggressive from the beginning as his contribution was 40 runs in a 56-run partnership in just 5.5 overs. Litton played 22 balls in his 40-run innings and hit 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Then, captain Imrul Kayes joined Rizwan. However, Comilla lost Kayes (15 off 13 balls) and Johnson Charles (0) in the same over and fell under pressure. But Rizwan was there and was accompanied by Jaker Ali. Both were cautious and kept the required run-rate under control. Jaker Ali was dismissed after scoring 22 runs from 23 balls but Rizwan along with Khushdil Shah (10* off 10 balls) secured the victory for the team with 15 balls in hand.

Rizwan was unbeaten on 37 runs from 35 balls. Malinda Pushpakumara was the best bowler for Chattogram with two wickets.
