Mohammed Shami accomplished the feat during the game against the Sri Lankan cricket team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The right-arm fast bowler unleashed his full potential once again by taking yet another five-wicket haul in the ongoing World Cup tournament.
The experienced paceman ripped through the defence of Sri Lanka's batting line-up by getting rid of Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews, Dushan Hemantha, Dushmantha Chameera and Kasun Rajitha to take five wickets to his credit. He registered 5/18 in 5 overs and also bowled a maiden over.
In the end, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 55 as India won the game by 302 runs, which is their biggest win and the second-largest overall in ODI World Cup history. After taking five wickets, Mohammed Shami came up with a unique celebration for the bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey.
While speaking to the broadcaster after the match, Shubman Gill opened up on Shami's gesture, explaining that it was for India's bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey since doesn't have hair on his head.
Shami was named the Man of the Match for his scintillating bowling performance. "Our bowling is in good shape and with the kind of rhythm that we are in, everyone is enjoying and everyone is happy for each other's success and more importantly, we are bowling as a unit and that's the result you are getting to see. I always try to bowl in good areas and be in good rhythm. In big tournaments, once the rhythm goes away, it's very tough to get it back. I always focus on hitting the good areas and length," Shami said after the game.
