Cricket has always been a tensed game but many call it as ‘funny game’ too. Dismissal is a most common thing in cricket and a batsman can be given out in many ways. The most common ways are- bowled, caught, leg before wicket (LBW), stumped, run out and hit wicket. But there have been some other ways too and these ways of dismissal made the fans, commentators and even the cricketers laugh and get shocked at same time. The other ways are-  hit the ball twice, obstructing the field, retired out, timed out and handled the ball. These cases are the rarest too in cricket, especially in Bangladesh cricket. But still there are some. Let’s discuss about those weirdest dismissals in Bangladesh cricket- 1. Tushar Imran vs Jamaica, 10 March 2002 (Handled the ball) Middle-order batsman entered the history books of unusual dismissals for the first time in Bangladesh cricket in 2002 against Jamaica in the Busta Cup. The law 33 of ICC stated: “The striker is out Handled the ball if, except in the circumstances of 2 below, in the act of playing a ball delivered by the bowler, he wilfully strikes the ball with a hand not holding the bat.  This will apply whether no-ball has been called or not and whether it is the first strike or a second or subsequent strike. “The act of playing the ball shall also encompass both playing at the ball and striking the ball more than once in defence of his wicket.” Tushar played for Bangladesh ‘A’ in that 4-day match and in the second innings of the match he was given out for a duck under the law of ‘handled the ball’. He scored 17 runs in the first innings. Later, Bangladesh ‘A’ lost the match by an innings and 60 runs. In the history of cricket, there have been 10 instances of ‘handled the ball’ dismissal in international cricket while 61 in first-class matches and 5 occasions in List A games. 2. Sunzamul Islam vs Chattogram Challengers, 31 December 2019 (Retired out) Spinner Sunzamul Islam was the victim of one of the weirdest dismissal in cricket history in 2019 in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He played for Cumilla Warriors in that match against Chattogram Challengers. Cumilla was chasing 160 runs in 20 overs. Dawid Malan left the field after being run-out at the 5^th ball of 20th over of the match. Cumilla needed 3 runs off the last ball. Then Sunzamul Islam entered into the field to face the last ball but the team management brought him back and sent Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Mujeeb hit four in the last ball of the match and grabbed the victory for Cumilla. But as per the rules, Sunzamul was retired out and Cumilla won the match by 2 wickets instead of 3 wickets. The law 25 of ICC stated: “In cricket, a batsman retires out if he retires without the umpire's permission and does not have the permission of the opposing captain to resume his innings. If such a return does not occur, the batman is marked as ‘retired out’ and this is considered a dismissal for the purposes of calculating a batting average.” 3. Yeasin Arafat vs Gazi Group Cricketers, June 17 2021 (Obstructing the field) This is the most common case of dismissal in cricket now amongst the weirdest dismissals. Yeasin Arafat of Mohammedan Sporting Club was given out for ‘obstructing the field’ against Gazi Group Cricketers in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL) league stage match. Umpire gave Yeasin out at the last ball of Mohammedan’s innings under the law of ‘obstructing the field’. The law 37 of MCC stated: “Either batsman is out Obstructing the field if, at any time while the ball is in play and, without the consent of a fielder, he/she uses the bat or any part of his/her person to return the ball to any fielder.” Later, Mohammedan lost the match by 7 wickets. 4. Nurul Hasan vs Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, June 21, 2021 The latest edition of ‘obstructing the field’ dismissal happened in the match between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club on Monday (June 21). Sheikh Jamal captain Nurul Hasan had been the victim this time as the batsman was given out for ‘obstructing the field’ at the 18.3th over of the match. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 42 runs off 24 balls in the match. Later, his team lost their first Super League match in the ongoing DPL. Unusual dismissals for Bangladesh batsmen at a glance: i.
