The ICC has announced the nominees of ICC Player of the Month Award for December 2024. Australia's captain Pat Cummins, India's pace ace Jasprit Bumrah and Protea talented pacer Dane Paterson will fight each other to win the award.
Pat Cummins has been in stellar form throughout the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Cummins picked up 25 wickets at an average of just 21.36 in the series, including an innings best of 5-57. He also contributed 159 runs with the bat at an average of 19.87, including two match-winning scores of 49 and 41 in Melbourne where he won the Player of the Match Award. Under the Pat Cummins reign Australia have regained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade, after losing four straight Test series against the Indians.
Jasprit Bumrah was the man who gave hope India in the entire Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah claimed 22 wickets in the three Tests in December at a phenomenal average of 14.22. He rather went onto winning the Player of the Series for his outstanding efforts with the ball, ripping through 32 wickets across five Tests at a jaw dropping average of only 13.06.
These remarkable efforts have also earned Bumrah the highest rating points by any Indian bowler in the ICC Test Player Rankings.
The protea fast bowler Dane Paterson has been phenomenal in December. His prolific bowling efforts against Sri Lanka and Pakistan were crucial in the Proteas' successful home Test summer. Paterson took 13 wickets in two Tests at an average of 16.92.
