In a surprising decision Indian national cricket team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to leave Mumbai cricket and join Goa from the next domestic season. The left-handed batter has officially requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to make the switch.

A source from MCA confirmed, "He has sought an NOC from us and has cited personal reasons for his move to Goa."

Jaiswal has been a part of Mumbai’s cricket setup since his U-19 days and has played a crucial role in their domestic campaigns. He last represented Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir but he missed the semifinal clash against Vidarbha due to an ankle injury.

While the exact reason for his move remains unknown reports suggest that Jaiswal wants a fresh start with a new team. Goa could offer him more leadership opportunities and there is even speculation that he might captain the side in domestic tournaments when not on national duty.

The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) Secretary stated, "Yes, that can happen. He plays for the Indian cricket team, so he can be the captain, and we will work towards appointing him. Regarding his availability, we are yet to discuss it."

Jaiswal is not the first Mumbai cricketer to switch states. In recent years Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad also moved from Mumbai to Goa in search of better opportunities.

Jaiswal first gained national attention with a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and his consistent performances in the Ranji Trophy and IPL earned him a spot in Team India. Now as he gears up for this new chapter in his domestic career, fans will be eager to see how he performs for Goa.
