Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Dwayne Bravo has weighed in on the ongoing home advantage debate ahead of their IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 3 at Eden Gardens. Bravo believes that the real advantage comes from the energy of the home fans, not the pitch conditions.

“What helps with the home advantage is the fans. I think that is more important than how the pitch plays. I can’t really comment much on the pitches, but once the fans enter the game and cheer us on, that makes a difference,” Bravo told The Indian Express.

KKR hasn’t had the best start to their title defense losing their opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at home before suffering another defeat to Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Bravo also emphasized that the playing surface doesn’t dictate results. Instead he believes success comes down to how well a team adapts.

“For me, the team who plays the best on the day will win. Whether the pitch is slow, turning, or not turning, my advice to the players will always be to assess the conditions and play accordingly,” he added.

Furthermore Speaking to Cricbuzz, Bravo addressed the lack of form among KKR’s senior batters, including Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, and Andre Russell. He dismissed concerns stating that it’s too early to judge players after just two games.

“In a tournament where there are 14 games, you don’t judge a player who has had success over the years after just two games. In IPL, you don’t expect any player to be consistent for 14 games,” Bravo said.
