Gujrat Titans have beaten Royal Challengers Bangaluru by 8 wickets on Wednesday (April 2). Mohammad Siraj's sensational three-for restricted RCB to 169 runs. In reply, an unbeaten 73* off only 39 deliveries from Jos Buttler handed GT their second victory of the season.
After opting to bowl first, Gujrat Titans Mohammad Siraj was on fire earlier on, dismissing Devdutt Padikkal and danger man Phil Salt inside the powerplay. While Arshad Khan stunned the crowd by removing the star batter Virat Kohli in the very second over of the game. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar too fell cheaply [12 off 12] as the hosts were reeling at 42/4.
But the middle order gave the fightback. Liam Livingstone [54 off 40 balls] led the charge, smashing five sixes in his knock, anchoring a crucial 52-run stand with Jitesh Sharma [33 off 21 balls] and then a blistering 46-run partnership with Tim David, who smashed 32 off 18 balls as RCB recovered superbly in the later stage of the game to post a competitive total of 169 on the board.
Mohammad Siraj was the picking of the bowlers, returning figures with 3-19.
In response, Gujrat Titans had a cautious start earlier on as Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was breathing fire with the new ball, while the later one removing the GT skipper Shubman Gill after his scratchy 14 off 14 balls.
But RCB's joy was short-lived as Jos Buttler joined Sai Sudharsan, stitching together an impressive 75-run stand, taking the game away from the hosts and putting GT in the driver's seat of the chase. Sai Sudharsan fell against the run of play after his well-made 49 off 36 balls.
Jos Buttler was then on the charge, anchoring the chase like a pro and smashing a blistering knock of 73* off just 39 deliveries and helping his side claim a massive 8-wicket victory over RCB.
