Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club snatched a dramatic one wicket victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the 2nd day of 11th round in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and confirmed their place in the super league. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ ৩৩৯ রানের পাহাড় টপকিয়ে জিতলো শেখ জামাল] Batting first Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-3 in Savar, a classical opening stand between Shamsur Rahman Shuvo and Shykat Ali gave Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club a solid start. These two opening pair added 76 runs together in 13.3 overs before Shykat Ali fell 39. Afterwards the batting innings was all out Shamsur Rahman and Rony Talukdar. They together added 181 runs in the middle. Although Rony Talukdar went back to the pavilion after scoring a century, Shamsur stayed on the crease till the end. The dashing opener remain unbeaten on 144, after 50 overs to help his side post a healthy total of 339 in the score board. Shamsur Rahman's innings was full of entertainment for the spectators. He smashed seven fours and the same number of huge sixes. Chasing a target of 340, Mohammedan'e start was not that great as they lost their two top-order batsmen within 7 overs, adding 56 runs in the board. But Chopra from the other side kept Mohammedan on the track. He went back to the pavilion after scoring 86. It was Sohag Gazi who was main behind Mohammedan's big ru chase with a handy knock of 89 off just 64 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. Apart from them, Tanbir Hayder and Elias Sunny also contributed with the bat. Despite of his team's defeat, Shamsur Rahman won the Player of the Match trophy for his brilliant 144.
