Speaking exclusively over the telephone from England, where he resides, said, "I have little idea if this (Pak win) is a decisive result in the tournament or an outlier. The upcoming matches for both Pakistan and India v NZ will no doubt clarify. Pakistan have tended to be mercurial..... lurching inexplicably from brilliance in one match to mediocrity in the next while India have shown resilience to bounce back from an unexpectedly poor performance. Time will tell."
"Heartiest congratulations to our Pak team for an outstanding performance against India on Sunday. While India did not play well, they did not play badly (save for bowling which was poor both in strategy and execution) yet were completely outclassed by Pakistan who outbowled, outfielded and outbatted India on the day.
"Rizwan and Babar Azam are just the brightest of the 11 Pakistan stars on the field," he added further.
