ICC announces India-heavy team of the tournament for ICC T20 World Cup 2024
6 cricketers from the champion team India have been named in the team of the tournament. Other than that, 3 players from Afghanistan and 1 from Australia and West Indies are in the squad.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the team of the tournament for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
6 cricketers from the champion team India have been named in the team of the tournament. Other than that, 3 players from Afghanistan and 1 from Australia and West Indies are in the squad.
Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are in the opening slot. Rohit was the second highest run-scorer in the tournament with 257 runs and a strike-rate of 156.7. The captain of India was instrumental in India’s T20 World Cup title win. On the other hand, Gurbaz was the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 281 runs at a strike-rate of 124.33. He always gave Afghanistan a good start and played a massive role in Afghanistan’s success till the semi-final.
Then comes Nicholas Pooran and Suryakumar Yadav. With 228 runs throughout the tournament at a 146.16 batting average, Nicholas Pooran cemented his place in the team of tournament. Despite playing on some challenging batting tracks, Suryakumar Yadav had a terrific tournament from the middle-order, scoring two half-centuries and a crucial 47 in the semi-final against England. He scored 199 runs in the tournament with a strike-rate of 135.37.
Marcus Stoinis, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel are the all-rounders in the team and Rashid Khan is placed as a specialist spinner. Stoinis was the best player for Australia in the tournament with 169 runs in batting and 10 wickets in bowling. While Hardik Pandya played a crucial role in India’s title winning as he bowled the most important over in the final. He scored 144 runs and took 11 wickets. During the T20 World Cup, Axar Patel made significant appearances with the bat, made one of the best catches of the competition, and did some outstanding spells with the ball. He scored 92 runs, where 47 runs came in the final in a crucial time when India lost 3 wickets early. He also took 9 wickets.
With a semi-final appearance, the Afghanistan side made history under the outstanding leadership of Rashid Khan, who also displayed impressive ball handling skills. During the event, Rashid claimed 14 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 6.17.
Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Fazalhaq Farooqi have got place in the team of the tournament as the pacers. Jasprit Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament and India's winning combination in their championship victory. Beyond the 15 wickets he claimed, Bumrah was India's most crucial player the entire tournament because of his ability to limit opposing teams' scoring rates. With an economy rate of 4.17, he has the highest of any bowler in a single men's T20 World Cup.
With 17 wickets in eight matches, Arshdeep Singh emerged as the tournament's equal highest wicket-taker with Fazalhaq Farooqi. Both were fabulous with the ball and produces lot of powerplay wickets in the tournament.
South Africa’s Anrich Nortje got the chance as the 12th player in the team of the tournament. With the exception of one game, Nortje claimed at least one wicket in every match during the tournament. He took a total of 15 wickets in the tournament.
