West Indies beat New Zealand by 13 runs on Thursday (13th June) to reach the Super-Eight of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Sherfane Rutherford's swashbuckling 68* off only 39 balls helped West Indies post 149 on the board after being reeling at 58-6. In reply, Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie ripped through Kiwi batting lineup to hand West Indies a brilliant 13-run victory.

Windies are into the next round. 
Being sent to bat first, West Indies had a horrid start to their innings. Boult started the carnage for New Zealand as he knocked over Johnson Charles for a five-ball duck. Southee then had Nicholas Pooran and Neesham removed opener Brandon King, West Indies were in all sorts of trouble in front of a quality Kiwi pace attack. New Zealand had West Indies reeling on 58-6.

But Sherfane Rutherford held on one end and ensured the resilience. He dragged himself deep to unleash last two over assault on Kiwi bowlers. He smashed 37 off the last two overs to get West Indies to 149, where 120 looked massive at first. Rutherford was remained unbeaten on 68* off only 39 deliveries which helped West Indies post a competitive total on the tough surface.

Boult was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, Southee and Ferguson got two wickets each.

In reply, New Zealand didn't start fluently, losing Devon Conway earlier on to Akeal Hosein. Finn Allen stayed for a while and made 26 off 23 deliveries before the paceman Alzarri Joseph removed him. Motie came to the attack and started ripping through the Kiwi batting lineup.

He got Kiwi captain Kane Williamson first and then had Rachin Ravindra at the deep mid-wicket followed by Daryl Mitchell in his venomous 4-over spell.

Glenn Phillips steered the ship for a while and at the backend of the innings Mitchell Santner blitz reduced the margin of defeat.

West Indies were clinical in the all facets of the game, while New Zealand were below par in everywhere. West Indies beat Zealand by 13 runs to reach to the Super-Eight of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.
