Virat Kohli India National Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) batting maestro has taken fans by surprise with a bold move on Instagram. On April 9, the cricketer, who boasts over 271 million followers archived all promotional and branded content from his profile. Now only personal moments and cricketing highlights remain on his main feed a clear signal of change.

The change sparked widespread curiosity among fans especially given Kohli’s strong presence in the brand endorsement space. The star batter finally broke his silence during a lighthearted chat with Mr. Nags (played by Danish Sait) on RCB’s official show.
In the fun-filled interview Sait jokingly asked, “Now that you’ve won the Champions Trophy and the ICC T20 World Cup, have your endorsement values gone higher?” Kohli grinned and cheekily responded with a confident “yes.”
Sait then followed up with the real question on everyone's mind: “Is that why you archived all your old photos? Because I saw your Instagram profile.” Kohli candidly replied,
“I’m in a very interesting place with social media. Currently, I’m not in a space where I’d be engaging too much. You never know about the future. But, it definitely needed a reset.”
Off the field Kohli may be dialing things back on social media but on the field he’s firing on all cylinders. He played a pivotal role in RCB’s dominant 9-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on April 13 smashing a fluent half-century alongside Philip Salt.
Kohli is currently RCB’s leading run-scorer in IPL 2025 with 248 runs in six innings. Averaging 62 with a strike rate of 143.35 he has already notched up three fifties and is firmly in the race for the Orange Cap.
