Usman Khawaja won the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award. Khawaja had an amazing time in Test cricket in 2023. This time the Australia opener got that award.  

Khawaja has beaten compatriot Travis Head, England's Joe Root and India's Ravichandran Ashwin in the race to be the best. Khawaja was in great form with the bat in 2023. He was the only batter to score a thousand runs in the previous year. He scored 1210 runs at an average of 52.60 in 24 innings of 13 Tests. He hit 3 centuries with 6 fifties. 

Khawaja started the year with a career-best unbeaten innings of 195 runs against South Africa. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy away series against India, Khawaja scored 333 runs in 4 matches, which was the highest run between the two teams in that series. He hit 1 century with 2 fifties. Khawaja then maintained his great form in the Ashes as well. He became the highest run scorer in the five-match series by scoring 496 runs.

Khawaja finished the year on a high with three 40+ scores in the last Pakistan series of the year. He also crossed 1000 runs in Tests as the only batter in 2023 with 1210 runs.
