Sri Lanka announce squad for T20 World Cup, Hasaranga to lead the side
The star leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will lead the side for the showpiece event.

Sri Lanka have announced their squad for the T20 World Cup, commences from first June in the USA and the Caribbeans. The star leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will lead the side for the showpiece event.
Wanindu Hasaranga who missed the IPL for Chronic Heel pain is set to return to the Lankan squad as the leader of the side after being named captain in the December in 2023. Sri Lanka have called their experienced cliche in Angelo Mathews, test team captain Dhananjaya De Silva and Dasun Shanaka.
Hasaranga wasn’t fit to go for IPL but recently he came back to competitive Cricket in the ongoing practice matches in Sri Lanka, where he batted in the first two matches, but he's yet to bowl.
They've got out from their regular ODI opener Avishka Fernando and wk-batter Kushal Perera.
Sri Lanka have been placed in the Group D at the T20 World Cup along with Bangladesh, Nepal, Netherlands and South Africa. They will play their first game of the mega tournament against South Africa on June 3rd in the New York and then they'll travel to Dallas for the second game on June 8th against Bangladesh.

Wanindu Hasaranga (capt), Charith Asalanka (vc), Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, Dilshan Madushanka.
