The international Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Test team of the year 2024. Australia's skipper Pat Cummins to captain the star-studded XI.

Pat Cummins Yashasvi Jaiswal : The rising Indian batter had a breakout year, Jaiswal scored a remarkable 1,478 runs at an impressive average of 54.74, a tally second only to England’s Joe Root. In the high-octane Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Jaiswal demonstrated his class with a magnificent 161 in the Perth, helping his side get a massive victory in the first Test.

Ben Duckett : The English opener played a very crucial role for England in 2024. Duckett’s top consistency saw him finish as the third-highest run-scorer of 2024 in Test Cricket, behind only his compatriot Joe Root and India's Yashasvi Jaiswal. He amassed 1,149 runs at an average of 37.06 over the year.

Kane Williamson : The former Kiwi captain has been superb last year, accumulating 1,013 runs runs in 2024 at an outstanding average of 59.58, making him the sixth-highest run-scorer of the year.

Joe Root : The English premier batter continued to dominate the Royal Format of the game. Joe Root accumulated 1,556 runs in 2024 at an impressive average of 55.57. He now ranks fifth on the all-time list of Test cricket’s highest run-scorers.

Harry Brook : The rising English superstar, Harry Brook amassed 1,100 runs in 2024 at an impressive average of 55, making him the fourth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket for the year.

Kamindu Mendis : The Sri Lanka's batter had a stellar year in 2024, amassing 1,049 runs in 2024 at an extraordinary average of 74.92, making him the fifth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket for the year.

Jamie Smith (Wicketkeeper) : The English wicketkeeper batter made a fantastic debut year. Jamie Smith accumulated 637 runs in 2024 at an average of 42.46. Behind the stumps, he was involved in 32 dismissals, including 31 catches and one stumping.

Ravindra Jadeja : The Indian veteran all-rounder had a fine Test year in 2024. He scored 527 runs in 2024 at an average of 29.27 and picked up 48 wickets at an impressive average of 24.29.

Pat Cummins (Captain) : The Australia's captain has been designated as the captain of the Test team of the year 2024 as he clinched the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade after beating India by 3-1. Pat Cummins took 37 wickets in 2024 at an average of 24.02 and scored 306 crucial runs with the bat, at a fine average of 23.53.

Matt Henry : The New Zealand pacer Matt Henry took 48 wickets in 2024 at an exceptional average of 18.58, ranking fourth overall in the list of most wickets for the year.

Jasprit Bumrah : The India's pace ace had a jaw dropping Test year, he single handedly ran riot for India in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Jasprit Bumrah overall took 71 wickets in 2024 at an astonishing average of 14.92, finishing as the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket for the year.
