Lucknow Super Giants beat Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a thriller on Friday (April 4). Fifties from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram powered LSG to a commendable total of 203 runs. In response, Digvesh Rathi's economic bowling helped the hosts claim 12-run victory over MI.

Being inserted to bat first, LSG came out all the guns blazing, with Mitchell Marsh once again providing a rapid start in the powerplay. Aiden Markram played the anchor as the opening duo stitched a crucial 76-run stand before Marsh's departure after his blazing 60 off 31 balls.


LSG then suffered a mini collapse, losing Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant in quick succession, leaving their team in need of stability. And Markram's gritty 53 off 39 balls helped one end firm, while a 19-ball-30 cameo from Ayush Badoni and 27 off 14 from David Miller powered LSG to a commendable total of 203 runs.

In response, LSG started superbly, removing the MI openers Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton cheaply. Niman Dhar looked at a fine touch, scoring an excellent 46 off 24 balls before falling to Digvesh Rathi in a crucial moment.

Suryakumar Yadav was the key man for MI, as he skillfully kept finding gaps, keeping the scoreboard ticking, helding one end firm. But the impact player Tilak Varma found it tough to get going, putting SKY on pressure other end. The turning point came when Avesh Khan dismissed the well settled SKY after his superb 67 off 43 balls.

Skipper Hardik Pandya walked in with an aggressive mindset, while Tilak Varma unable to accelerate, MI made a tactful decision by retiring him out. However, Pandya needed 24 off the last over but Avesh Khan held his nerve, nailing the toe crushing yorkers to seal a thrilling 12-run victory.
