As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the ODI World Cup 2023, Pakistan veteran Moin Khan has come forward to give his insights on the teams he believes will make it to the semi-finals of the highly anticipated tournament.
In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Moin was asked about the likely semi-finalists for the mega event and he named Pakistan, India, England and Australia as the main contenders.
“Of the four, I see three: Pakistan, India and England. The fourth team I see is Australia,” predicted Moin.
Moin also made a case for Sarfaraz's inclusion in the World Cup squad as the second wicketkeeper-batsman, citing his recent performance.
Moin Khan also opined that the PCB selection committee should have included Champions Trophy-winning captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed in the 15-member World Cup squad.
“Sarfaraz is currently playing domestic cricket and is in good form. I was hoping and expecting that he could come into the team as the second wicketkeeper-batsman. He should have been included [in the World Cup squad] considering there are so many games," he concluded.
Babar Azam & Co. have already landed in India and have started preparations in Hyderabad. Pakistan will open their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6. Before that game, they will face New Zealand and Australia in warm-ups on September 29 and October 3.
Notably, the Pakistan selectors have picked only one wicketkeeper-batter in Mohammad Rizwan in the 15-man squad and the only other gloveman in the team is Mohammad Haris, who is a traveling reserve player.
