Richard Illingworth and Richard Kettleborough, both from England, have been appointed as the field umpires for the final of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and Australia in Ahmedabad.

The much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023 has now entered its final phase and the ICC has announced the officials who will officiate the final of the major event between India and Australia on November 19.

Richard Illingworth and Richard Kettleborough will be the on-field umpire while Andy Pycroft will be the match umpire. Joel Wilson and Chris Gaffaney will serve as third and fourth umpire respectively.

This is the second appearance for Kettleborough, who also played in the final of the 2015 Cricket World Cup. His partner on this occasion was Kumar Dharmasena.

More than 93,000 spectators watched this game. However, that figure is likely to be surpassed as a triple-digit crowd is expected on Sunday as the host nation looks to repeat its 2011 victory and win the World Cup on home soil.

It is also Illingworth's second participation in a World Cup final, albeit his first as a match official. He was a player in the final of the 1992 Cricket World Cup.

Illingworth and Kettleborough were both added to the ICC International List on the same day in November 2009. Both acted as on-field referees in this week's semi-final. Illingworth was in charge of India's victory over New Zealand in Mumbai, while Kettleborough oversaw Australia's thrilling win over South Africa in Kolkata.

Both umpires have had extremely illustrious careers. They both won the David Shepherd Trophy, awarded to the ICC Umpire of the Year. Kettleborough won it three times in a row between 2013 and 2015. Illingworth won it in 2019 and 2022.

Other officials for Sunday's all-important final include Joel Wilson, who will be the third referee, fourth referee Chris Gaffaney and referee Andy Pycroft. They were all also part of the reigning teams in the semi-finals.
