Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir is the regular face of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He often has experience playing in multiple teams of BPL. Amir has signed with Fortune Barishal this time.

Before the draft, there is an opportunity to bring foreign cricketers into the team on direct contracts. Using that opportunity, BPL teams are giving surprises one after another. Barishal has announced the inclusion of Amir in the team.

Looking ahead to the next season, Barishal is on a mission to build a strong team. The other big signing is the experienced Shoaib Malik. As a part of that mission, they first brought in former Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal to the team. However, the current captain Shakib Al Hasan has been released by the team. Besides, Barishal has retained three local cricketers in the team - Mahmudullah Riyad, Anamul Haque Bijoy, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Moreover, Barishal has added two new faces to the team. Abbas Afridi and Paul Stirling. However, another Pakistan star, Iftikhar Ahmed, who played for Barishal last season, has signed his name in the new team. Leaving Barishal, Iftikhar will play for Comilla Victorians in the next season.

Apart from this, Rangpur Riders have also started organizing the team. Rangpur has taken several famous stars including Shakib Al Hasan in the team. Babar Azam, Wanindu Hasaranga, Nicholas Pooran will also play in the jersey of Rangpur. Apart from this, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan, and Hasan Mahmud are also among the local players.

The next edition of BPL will be played at the beginning of January 2024 after the national elections. The final will be held in mid-February. The final schedule has not been released yet.
