Living legend of Sri Lankan cricket, Muttiah Muralitharan has said that even he, alongside other Sri Lankan greats like Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara can't turn around Sri Lanka cricket's fortune overnight.
The Sri Lankan side is going through a very tough period, recently losing a 5 match ODI series against Zimbabwe in their home turf. In these dire states many Lankan cricket fans were hoping that the above mentioned cricketing greats will step in and help the side to get out of this predicament. But Murali has reminded everyone that it's not that simple, as they all have current commitments.
"Since my retirement, I have not been involved in Sri Lankan cricket," he said. "It's been 5-6 years. I don't understand what's happening there. Without being aware of the situation, I don't think it will be right for me to comment. However, there is definitely a problem. The performance of the team has dipped and they will have to rectify it. Bringing in Sangakkara, Jayawardene or me won't be a solution because we are all busy with other commitments. Sangakkara is still playing cricket and Mahela is busy with coaching commitments just like me. So, they will have to look for a solution themselves," said the highest wicket taker in the history of Test match cricket.
