New Zealand international Daryl Mitchell was roped in by the five-time IPL champions for INR 14 crores at the IPL 2024 auction. The 32-year-old hasn't quite found his rhythm going in the first few games. Despite getting some good starts, he has failed to capitalize on it as he fell prey to cheap scores.

However, he looked confident in the just-concluded game against KKR wherein he pitched in with 25 off 19 including a four and a six before he was bowled by Sunil Narine. Mitchell and Ruturaj Gaikwad constructed 70 runs for the second wicket, which set the tone in CSK chasing down the target.
CSK won the game by seven wickets and registered their 10th win over KKR at Chepauk in the IPL, which goes to show the Yellow Army's sheer dominance at their fortress. With this win, CSK moved to the fourth place in the league stage points table, accumulating six points with an NRR of +0.666.
After the game, Daryl Mitchell made a bold statement about himself, adding that he is here to win games for the team and that he is flexible to bat anywhere for the team.
"It is always nice to come and play in front of a special crowd and to get the win is cool. The surface was on the slower side, the plan was to take it as deep as you could. [on Narine] He is a world-class bowler and for me it is coming out with plans and put pressure on them, worked tonight and Rutu being there till the end was class to see. I don't mind wherever I bat, I'm here to win games of cricket and it was nice to get the job done< Daryl Mitchell said at the post-match presentation.
