Bangladesh cricketer Litton Das has got a call from the Lankan Premier League (LPL). The Bangladeshi superstar is set to fly to the island nation of Sri Lanka on the day of the Asia Cup team announcement (August 12), where he will play as a teammate of the national team's star all-rounder captain Shakib Al Hasan.
Bangladesh cricketers are having a good time in franchise cricket. Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Mithun are already there in Sri Lanka, now another Bangladeshi - Litton Das is joining them.
In the LPL, Litton will play for Galle Titans, the team for which Shakib is regularly playing matches. Mithun is in the same team but has not got a place in the main XI yet. Galle has played 6 matches in the league phase till now but their situation is not so favorable. They won only two matches. The franchise is counting on Litton to turn the fortunes around.
Litton will leave the country for Sri Lanka from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday. He will play Galle’s next match on Sunday, (August 13), when they face Jaffna Kings. Tawhid Hridoy has just returned home after playing for Jaffna. If not, there would have been a reunion of three of the best performers of the country - Shakib, Litton, and Hridoy.
Before this, Litton played for Surrey Jaguars in the Global T20 Canada. Although he did not benefit much in terms of strike-rate on tricky wickets, he got runs regularly. Apart from getting the team off to a good start in the opening, the 28-year-old cricketer can undoubtedly be relied upon to hand over the keeping gloves. Galle is making a last to qualify for the last four.
By joining the LPL, Litton will get a chance to play at least two matches. After the match against Jaffna Kings, Galle has one more match on August 15, against Colombo Strikers. Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam is playing again Colombo. Four teams will be lucky enough to reach the playoffs in the five-team tournament. If Galle can fight back in the last two matches, Shakib-Litton's LPL journey could be extended.
