Ever since Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL debut in 2023, he has been compared to his father, Sachin Tendulkar.

Former India spinner and IPL expert Pragyan Ojha thinks Arjun should be treated as an individual and not as Sachin's son.

Arjun made one of the most anticipated debuts in the 2023 IPL for the Mumbai Indians (MI) when it was announced he would be on the team against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) two years after his purchase. He has won three wickets in four appearances since then.

Ojha, while appearing as a pundit, discussed how he had spoken to former pacemaker Zaheer Khan about Arjun Tendulkar's dedication to honing his craft and explained that he needed to be judged as an individual.

"I spoke to Zaheer Khan the other day, he told me Arjun is someone to pull out of the nets, that's the dedication he has. We must judge him as an individual, not as the son of a legend. He obviously needs to improve," Ojha said during an interaction.

"As T20 cricket evolves, to compete in these types of leagues you need to have as many skills as possible and go further and play a higher level of cricket," he added.

"I feel like as a little boy playing his second game, he showed what hard work and dedication can help you achieve something. Bowling those overs isn't easy, especially when you're playing in your second game. Whatever the things he tried to do, they happened for him," he said.

“Arjun has been part of this team for the last three years [although he didn't make the XI]. I've watched him grow over the years. He understands what he wants to do and he's pretty confident about what he wants to do for the team too."

Arjun Tendulkar will look to throw more overs and improve his wicket record in MI's next game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 30.
