Bangladesh-born cricketer Arafat Bhuiyan made a headline in the country after being called up to the County Championship. This time his debut in the county is more hyped. Arafat is having his first match for Kent like a dream.

Ollie Pope, Jamie Smith, Ben Foakes, and Will Jacks- the main four pillars of Surrey's batting line-up were dismissed by Arafat.

Batting first, Kent scored 278 runs. As the total was not big, good bowling was necessary. Pacer Arafat from Chauddagram upazila of the Cumilla district in Bangladesh appeared in his first county match for kent. He conceded just 65 runs by bowling only 20 overs with 6 maiden overs. He was the best bowler of the team with 4 wickets. Earlier, he could not take advantage with the bat, scored 2 runs from 4 balls in the lower order. The 26-year-old pacer said, “To get Ollie Pope as my first wicket was obviously very nice and I’m very pleased to finish with four. You always have to believe you are good enough to do well and that you are picked at this level for a reason. Surrey are a very strong team and we worked very hard as a bowling unit to bowl them out. We have to come back hard tomorrow morning with the bat and try to get as big a lead as possible.”

Arafat took 17 wickets for Kent's second XI. He took 4 wickets for 81 runs in the Second XI Championship match last week. The pacer also played for Blackheath in the Kent Premier League alongside Kent's Second XI.

Prior to Kent, Arafat played for Surrey, Essex, and Derbyshire Second XIs in the last six years. In 2019, he also played for the MCC’s Young Cricketers side. The pacer also played for the South Asian Cricket Academy this year.
