Pakistan’s young national team opener, Saim Ayub, faced a challenging start to the ODI series against Australia. The talented left-hander was dismissed for just one run by Australia’s fast-bowling ace, Mitchell Starc, in the series opener at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Mitchell Starc reached 100 ODI wickets on home soil.

It’s a tough start for Saim Ayub on debut under challenging conditions. The pitch offered some grass and swing, with two of the game’s finest pacers charging in from both ends. Starc delivered a length ball that moved away just enough, tempting Ayub into an off-side push. But with the ball at that tricky in-between length, Ayub was caught playing away from his body, and an inside edge crashed into the stumps.

Later the wicket of Abdullah Shafique also marked a significant achievement for Starc, as he reached the 100-wicket milestone in ODIs in Australia. He joins an elite list of Australian bowlers, including legends like Brett Lee (169), Glenn McGrath (161), Shane Warne (136), Craig McDermott (125), and Steve Waugh (101).
