Netherlands have announced an experienced squad for the 2021 Men's T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Star all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate is back in the Netherlands mix. He returned to Dutch colours in 2017 and also took part in the T20 World Cup Qualifoers two years later.

The 41-year-old veteran brings in loads of T20 experience - 380 matches in the format. He has been an integral part of the Essex team in the English county.

Netherlands will bank on other proven players - Paul van Meekeren, Roelof van der Merwe and Tim van der Gugten. van Meekeren is on a CPL deal in the Caribbean while van der Gugten was outstanding in Netherlands' 2-1 ODI series victory over Ireland at home.  

Netherlands will be led by Peter Seelar at the T20 World Cup. Colin Ackermann has been given vice-captaincy role.   

"I’m extremely excited to announce the 2021 T20 World Cup squad for the Netherlands," head coach Ryan Campbell said. "This has probably been my toughest selection process since I’ve taken over the job. I am excited about the blend of experience and youth we’re taking to the UAE.

"Colin Ackermann will step up to the vice-captaincy role and it’ll be fantastic to have veteran Ryan ten Doeschate come with us for one last hoorah.

"I think our strength will always be our fast bowling group and all of them have had a fantastic season, especially our county bowlers. I look forward to seeing them make a real impact during this tournament."

Netherlands' best T20 World Cup result was making it to Super 10s in 2014. They exited in group stage in 2016.   

The 2019 Qualifiers winners will face tough challenge to seal Super 12s berth as Sri Lanka, Ireland and Namibia are slotted with them in Group 1 of the first round.
