He's not going on the trip for more treatment, but rather for a full medical checkup after his recent heart scare. His family and doctors say it's a safety measure to make sure Tamim's heart health is at its best before he goes back to living a normal life.

In Bangladesh, top celebrities and politicians often go abroad to get medical care. But former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal went against the grain and got world-class care at a little-known local hospital, which saved his life. Even though Tamim is stable and getting better, he is going to Singapore this week for a full medical checkup, which will include a visit with a top doctor.
He's not going on the trip for more treatment, but rather for a full medical checkup after his recent heart scare. His family and doctors say it's a safety measure to make sure Tamim's heart health is at its best before he goes back to living a normal life.
Tamim was scheduled to face Shinepukur at BKSP on March 24, while serving as the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL). He even participated in the toss, but he had been experiencing chest discomfort since the morning. He initially believed it to be gastric problems, so he took medication and persisted.
But things got worse very quickly. He was rushed to KPJ Specialised Hospital in Savar because his situation got worse. While on the way, Tamim was given CPR for 22 minutes to keep him alive.
Under the care of Dr. Moniruzzaman Maruf, Tamim had a very important heart repair surgery. Sources inside the hospital and later doctors at Evercare Hospital Dhaka said that the care he got was truly world-class.
Once Tamim's health got better, he was moved to Evercare to be watched. After a good time of healing, he went back home right before Eid.
Even though Tamim was getting better, his family and the doctors in his home country agreed that he should have a follow-up exam abroad just to be safe. Thailand was first on the list, but Singapore was chosen because it has more experience with advanced heart screening.
Tamim will have a lot of tests done on him, not just heart tests. His family members will go with him.
It's still not clear if Tamim will play competitive cricket again. He has been told by doctors to rest completely for at least three months before doing any kind of physical exercise again. Tamim retired from international cricket earlier this year, but he kept playing in domestic tournaments like the BPL and DPL.
