Peshawar Zalmi have been dealt a major injury scare before their opening match of the PSL 2025. As per reports in Cricket Pakistan, captain Babar Azam suffered a foot injury on the eve of their game against Quetta Gladiators
Star batter Babar Azam sparked alarm among Peshawar Zalmi supporters after limping off the field during a practice session before the 10th game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In a viral video on social media, Babar is seen stumbling as he tries to walk back to the dressing room after being struck by a ball during training. The blow seemed to inflict a lot of pain on him and made it hard for him to move towards the dressing room.
The severity of the injury is yet to be officially confirmed, but the timing is a cause for concern for Zalmi, who host their first game against Quetta Gladiators tomorrow. The game, to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Pakistan's highest T20I run-scorer Babar Azam has also been unable to make runs for his side with any consistency in white-ball cricket. He has been miserable with the bat since the start of 2025, and his failures have been one of the key reasons why the side has been struggling.
It is worth noting here that Babar Azam, who leads Peshawar Zalmi in the tournament, was excluded from the Pakistan T20I squad for the recently concluded New Zealand white-ball tour.
