Bangladesh 'A' team and High-Performance team batting consultant Jamie Siddons wants to teach batting to tailenders. Not only 'A' team, he considers it important to learn to bat for U-17 and U-19 tailenders too.

In the current era, along with batters, bowlers also play an important role in batting. But Bangladesh still lag behind here. Taskin Ahmed is doing hard-working in batting recently which also shows in his national team performance. Others are also trying.

Against the West Indies 'A' team, Nayeem Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Rejaur Rahman Raja, Ripon Mondol and Musfik Hasan scored only 17 runs combinedly in the first innings. In the second innings, however, Rishad played an unbeaten innings of 20 runs and also contributed to the match draw. However, Siddons wants to work on the tailender's batting.

“It takes a long time to make a batsman into a good batsman. To make a bowler into a good batsman takes a very long time. I am going to start now and then maybe in two years’ time, it won’t be easy to get these bowlers out. We need our last five batters to make hundred runs. That’s why the effort goes in. I am hoping we can do that in the HP, and the U15s, U17s and U19s. Bowlers need to bat,” he said.

Siddons came to Bangladesh as the batting coach of the national team. However, after Chandika Hathurusingha took over as the head coach of the national team, Siddons has been appointed as the batting consultant for the 'A' team and the HP team. However, Siddons has no complaints about the new role.

“Let’s get the facts right. I didn’t say I don’t want to work with the national team. I love working with the national team. I don’t care where I work. I can make batsmen better, just underneath the national team is where they need some help. This group of players will be the next ones into the national team. I want to make sure they don’t have major deficiencies before they get selected. To make sure they aren’t easy to bowl to, when they are at the international level,” Siddons added.
