In a bold and humorous take ahead of a crucial Men's T20 World Cup clash, Scotland’s Michael Jones has expressed hope that Australia’s David Warner might open the bowling. This match is set to be a key decider in Scotland’s World Cup fate.

Australia has already earned a position in the Super 8s, and there is suspicion that they won't use their top team against Scotland. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood hinted at a possible strategy to guarantee their archrivals, England, depart the competition early. 

The Scottish camp did not take Hazlewood's suggestions seriously. Michael Jones, a vital member of Scotland's batting lineup, admitted that the team had a good laugh while watching the interview. Jones, 26, recognises the heated rivalry between Australia and England and cheekily welcomes any advantage, even if it means facing an unusual bowling attack.

“I was watching it live and I was laughing. In any way that it can come. The rivalry between Australia and England is massive and, if Australia want to play it that way then happy days. Maybe let David Warner open the bowling or something. I don't know any Australia players, but it would be good if we could have a little word and sort something out,” Jones was quoted as saying by BBC.

The right-handed batter highlighted Scotland’s determination and focus. "The Aussies are renowned for being extremely diligent, and I’m certain they will come all guns blazing," Jones said. His words reflect respect for Australia's cricketing discipline and an understanding of the competitive nature of the sport.

Jones continued, “We'll do our best to win the game, try and take the background noise out of the equation and not get too distracted among all the noise. But I watched the Hazlewood interview and [ex-captain] Tim Paine saying they should field half a side, and it is at the back of your mind that - you want the result in any way that it can come. We just want to get through.”
